The circular head has a hinged glass door and a brass bezel which opens by a latch. The dial has Roman numerals to denote time and hands with arrow tips and a winding hole. Inscribed on the dial is: [Warranted by W. Cummings / Roxbury].    The throat has a trapezoidal reverse-painted glass panel framed with gilded rope molding. The molding is connected to small wooden blocks at the corners of the throat. The panel is painted with the arms of the United States. Brass sidearms flank the throat.    The pendulum box has a rectangular reverse-painted glass panel framed with gilded rope molding. The molding is connected to small wooden blocks at the corners. The panel is painted with a white outer border, a decorative inner border, and a scene of Aurora in her chariot. Beneath the pendulum box is a gilded bracket with applied balls and a drop acorn finial.
