(46.4 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Federal card table constructed of mahogany, maple, figured maple veneer, and an unidentified dark wood inlay. The top of the card table consists of one board that is fixed and structurally integral to the piece with a separate leaf that is the same size as the first. This leaf sits on top of the fixed board when closed or opens out to rest on a swing leg. The fixed board is attached to the frame with pockets and screws as well as glue blocks. All glue blocks are different. On the edge of the table top, there are two lines of an unidentified, dark wood inlay. The frame of the table is rectangular with a serpentine curved front that echoes the shape of the table top. This curved front is laminated. The frame is constructed of mortise and tenon joints on three sides with dovetail construction on the side of the swing leg. The swing leg is attached to the frame with a knuckle joint.    On the front of the frame, there is an inlaid oval tablet with horizontal grain set within a larger rectangular panel of inlay. There is a pattern of string and banding on the bottom edge of the front and sides of the table frame. The table has tapering cylindrical legs, reeded with rings at the top and bottom. The ends of the leg have three rings followed by a tapering cylinder. The attachment of the legs to the frame is difficult to see, but on appears to be a pegged mortise and tenon joint while another appears to be screwed to the frame. The top is sun-bleached.
