(54 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Federal-style chest of drawers with looking glass constructed of American tulip poplar, mahogany, white pine, brass, and glass. The case top is made of four boards attached with pockets and screws with overhanging edges on the front and the sides. There is integral bead molding on the front and sides edges of the top. There is a second, applied molding at the periphery of the mirror stand that is nailed on. The right case side is made of one board, while the left is made of two. The front edges have a three quarter column that is reeded with breaks in reeding boards that run horizontally.    The case has two drawers side-by-side on the first row with two full-width drawers beneath. The drawers have horizontal veneer with an applied bead molding that covers the dovetails on the sides. The drawer sides are full height with applied running strips. The drawer bottoms are made of one horizontal board and chamfered at the front and sides. The bottom is let into a groove in the front and sides, and then nailed to the underside of the bottom. The drawers rest on their original runners that are attached with nails.    The case back is made of one, horizontal board and attached with mortise and tenon joints. The case bottom has a front, cyma curved skirt that is attached with glue blocks. There is an applied, cove molding on the sides. The legs are reeded cylinders that taper at the base and are attached with mortise and tenon joints.    The mirror stand has three drawers of equal size side-by-side. The drawers have horizontal veneer and an applied bead molding. The drawer sides are full-height and the drawer bottoms are made of one, horizontal board. The drawers rest on the bottom of the case. On top of the drawers there are two supports on either side of the rectangular mirror. The top of the mirror arches upward on each side, squares off, and then rises to a central arch in the middle. On each side of the mirror supports there are double C-scrolls with carved foliage detail on the lower C-scroll.
