Atop the drumhead is a brass eagle finial mounted to a short plinth. The circular door has a metal bezel and is hinged; when opened, it reveals the clock face, which designates time via Roman numerals and pointed and scrolled hands. Below a point between I and II is the winding hole. Below the axis of the hands is the maker's inscription. Fretted side arms flank the throat. The throat has a reverse-painted glass tablet in a classical design featuring a bird, an oval, and an eagle atop an emblem amongst foliage with a banner, all against a white background. Around the frame bordering the tablet is double string inlay with horizontally-grained veneer. The pendulum box also features a reverse-painted glass tablet within a frame matching that on the throat. The painting on the pendulum box is against a white ground and with a frame patterned in a series of fern-like leaves around another white border and an inner, decorated rectangle around a smaller frame containing the oculus. The door to the box is hinged, visible on the right, and on the left side is a locking mechanism."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"1/19/2019"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Inscribed on dial: [Simon Willard / BOSTON].
