(44.5 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Chippendale tilt-top stand constructed of mahogany, brass, and wrought iron. Oval tilt-top with two cleats on the bottom that are attached with screws. The top is connected to a block with round tenons extending from the block into the sides of the cleats. The top tilts and can be secured with a latch and lock. The baluster-turned pedestal has ring turnings and cylindrical sections at the top and bottom. The top of the pedestal is tenoned through the block and wedged on all sides. The block is chamfered on two edges of the underside. The bottom of the pedestal has carved scallops. Three cabriole legs attached to the pedestal with sliding dovetails. The legs are secured with a metal spider on the underside of the pedestal. There is carved scalloping on the underside of the legs. All legs terminate in a snake foot with a pronounced central ridge. There is a crack on the top of the stand.
