The case sides, foot, and back of the cradle are constructed out of solid mahogany boards and nailed together. The case bonnet is constructed from three panels with rounded edges and is also nailed onto the frame. The middle panel of the bonnet sits on top of the other two panels and is slightly skewed with its sides extending over the other panels giving the bonnet top a stepped appearance. The foot is cut to mirror this stepped shape. The front of the hood has a straight valance across the top that is attached to the sides of the case by mortise and tenon.    The sides of the cradle are rounded and have a concave curve, or C curve leading up to the bonnet. The case back is constructed of one horizontal board cut in a coffin shape. The bottom is constructed from white pine and extends past the sides to simulate a beveled base molding. The case bottom has a dark brown wash on both sides and is worn on the inside.    The two rockers, or bends, are attached by dowels to the case bottom. The rockers simply shaped with slight upward curve.
