The sideboard is composed of a long flat frame flanked by case pieces at either side. The top frame is screwed and pegged into the side pieces with six screws and two pegs on each side.  Top frame: The top of the frame is composed of two boards with overhanging edges at the front and sides. The edges terminate in applied bead moldings at the top and bottom framing a series of applied mahogany lozenges, many of which are missing. There is a gallery at the back of the sideboard attached with screws with additional screw holes and pockets at the back of the case. The gallery is straight, arching upward at the center. A rectangular projection stands proud of the gallery at either side and at the center. With these projections, the gallery is divided into five sections, each framed with recessed central panels surrounded with applied cock beading and banding. The outer four sections have horizontal veneer within their recessed panels. The center recessed panel is filled with applied naturalistic carving of grape vines--bunches of grapes, tendrils, and leaves in high relief. The tops edges of all of the gallery sections terminate in Grecian molding. The sides are composed of single boards with squared edges. The top frame is split into three sections below its top surface. Above each lower case is a recessed panel surrounded by cock beading and banding filled with horizontal veneer to parallel the gallery sections. A flat, stylized flower carving is glued into a rectangular segment at each corner and surrounded by banding. There are three of these carvings in total as the left most carving is missing. A Grecian molding is glued to the bottom edges of the top frame. Between the recessed elements, the frame houses a single wide drawer.  The drawer front has two recessed sections with concave interior edges. Like the side panels, they are surrounded with cock beading and banding and filled with horizontal veneer. Between panels is an applied foliate carving. At the center of the carving is flower with three curved petals that tops the scrolled ends of two leaf bundles, which project out from the center. Thin bent strips with scrolled ends surround the leafy design. The Grecian molding at the bottom of the top frame is continued onto the drawer front. The drawer sides are shorter than the front board. The sides are attached to the back with dovetails, but the front attachment method is unclear. The drawer bottom is composed of a single board with grain running from side to side and chamfering at the front and sides. The drawer bottom is let into a groove at the front and sides and nailed to the underside of the back. The drawer rests on runners that are nailed to the interior of the top frame. The top front rail is attached with sliding dovetails and screws. The drawer front covers the top and bottom front rails.  Lower cases: The lower case sides, both interior and exterior, are each composed of one board with squared edges. They have four free turned columns at each corner. The columns start with urn shapes carved with scrolled petals or leaves flanked with spool turnings. Below, are round reeded tapering cylinders followed with gadrooned rings. The pine back of each lower case is panel framed and attached with nails and screws. The left case has multiple boards running vertically within its central back panel, while the right case frames a single recessed board. The single bottom boards of the lower cases are attached with dovetails and screws. They are edged with applied Grecian molding at the front and sides. Each lower case has four turned feet carved with reeding. A wedge has been screwed into the bottom of each foot. Both lower cases has a door at the front. The left door has completely detached from the case. The doors are flanked with double bead molding. They are panel framed, the central panel surrounded with beveled molding. The central panels are faced with two layers of vertical veneer separated by an applied rectangle of molding and carving on each door. Applied half-round moldings form the rectangle with scroll and shell carvings at each corner. The doors have floral wooden pulls that twist to open. The interior of the right case, including the door, is entirely lined with iron panels attached with nails. A metal grill shelf is fitted into the interior. The right case has a single wooden shelf faced with triple bead molding above a cellaret drawer lined with lead.  The cellaret drawer is faced with horizontal veneer and has a brass lock and inset brass pull. The drawer sides are full height and constructed with dovetails at the sides and front. The back construction could not be examined as the drawer could not be removed. The drawer bottom grain runs from side to side with chamfering at the front and sides. The interior of the drawer is divided into nine squares with dividers made of metal or lead-coated sheets and nailed to the sides of the drawer. The drawer has circular indents on the sides indicating that pegs may be keeping it in place.
