The top of the work table is a single board, square at the sides and back and bowed at the front. The edge of the top overhangs the front and sides, and the edge is veneered with a narrow inlay of two rows of alternating light and dark wood in a checkered pattern. The top is attached to the case sides and back with glue blocks.    The square top of the legs form the corners of the case and are joined to the back and side panels with mortise and tenon joints. The top front drawer rail is attached to the legs with mortise and tenon joints. The drawer divider and the bottom front rail are set into rabbets. The front rails are faced with veneer.    The front and rear legs are square, tapering in two directions below the case sides to a band of inlay with an alternating saw tooth pattern of light wood and mahogany above a checkerboard pattern. The banding is bordered on top and bottom by rows of stringing consisting of light wood over mahogany. Beneath the band of inlay, the legs taper on all four sides to simulate a foot.    The drawer fronts are bowed and faced with figured mahogany veneer. A thin molding of mahogany is nailed to the edges of the drawer front covering the outside of the dovetail joint between the front and sides of the drawer. The edge molding protrudes to form a bead around the perimeter of the drawer front. The drawer sides are full height and dovetailed to the drawer fronts and backs. The drawer back has a glued-on stop block. The drawer bottom is a single board with the grain running front to back, and chamfering on the underside at the front and sides. The drawer bottom is let into a groove in the front and the sides and nailed to the underside of the back. The drawer is reinforced by glue blocks beneath the drawer bottom at the sides. The drawers rest on the original runners nailed to the sides.
