The modified case top consists of one maple board sitting in the well where an upper chest of drawers is designed to fit. The top board is attached with plugged screws around the border and maple cove molding is nailed to the front and side edges. The case sides are each composed of one board which is mortise and tenoned into vertical stiles extending up from the front and rear legs. The case back is constructed with one horizontal board mortise and tenoned into the rear vertical stiles. The case front has one full-width top drawer above three side-by-side drawers. A shaped skirt rail with two turned drop finials spans the bottom edge of the case front and attaches to the vertical stiles with mortise and tenons. The case is supported by four cabriole legs with integral pad feet. The legs are continuous with the vertical stiles and each have carved teardrop shapes at the top right and left shoulders.    The drawer fronts are solid maple and the drawer interiors are stained white pine. The drawer fronts have integral bead molding around the perimeter and are joined to the case sides with dovetails. The drawer bottoms are composed of one board running front to back which is let into a groove in the front and sides as well as nailed to the underside of the back. Running strips are nailed to the undersides of the drawer bottoms along the right and left sides. The drawers rest on runners that are set into notches in the case back and the horizontal drawer divider at the front. The horizontal and vertical drawer dividers are attached to the case front with sliding dovetails. There is no case bottom below the lower drawers. The hardware on the drawer fronts has been replaced with reproduction Chippendale-style brass mounts with bail pulls.
