(41.3 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Federal-style washstand constructed of mahogany, maple, figured maple inlay, as well as an unidentified light and dark wood inlay. Triangular frame with a demi-lune front and three tiers. Frame constructed with mortise and tenon joints. Central tier and drawer front constructed with laminated wood in order to achieve the demi-lune shape. Two back boards extend up from the rear of the washstand. The top edges of the boards are cut diagonally in paired ogee curves that rise to an arch at the center back. The two panels are dovetailed to each other and pegged to the back of the top frame. Geometric band of light and dark wood inlay around the front curve of the washstand. Veneered, serpentine skirt. All legs extend the length of the frame. Square, rear, Marlborough leg. Front legs are sabre legs. A flat, T-shaped stretcher joins the legs. The rear branch of the stretcher is cut in a vasiform shape. The front branch of the stretcher has a cyma curve front and straight back. Three hand-chiseled wood supports screwed to the bottom three edges of the legs with flat head screws. One drawer in the second tier of the washstand frame. The front of the drawer has horizontal veneer with figure maple banding on the edges. The sides of the drawer are full height. The drawer bottom is let into grooves on the sides and front as well as nailed to the underside of the back. The drawer rests on its original runners and the opening for the drawer is cut out of the skirt of the tier. Split on the top right panel, which is cracked all the way through.
