This is a very rich card table bearing the fragmentary label of Adams and Todd--a firm formed in the year 1798 by Samuel Adams, a cabinetmaker who worked at Southack's Street in 1796, and William Todd, who married Rebecca Fearing of Hingham in 1797. The firm bought a piece of land on Russell Street, probably for the storage of lumber, and leased a shop on Cambridge Street from Samuel Adams, at which address it is listed in the directory of 1798. When the next directory appeared in 1800, Adams is listed alone on Cambridge Street, and in October of that year William Todd died. It is the more surprising to find that the table is in the fully developed Boston Sheraton manner, with turned and reeded legs, fine satinwood inlay, and a complete border of halfmoon, or thumbprint, inlay. It is significant that it was made only four years after the Seymours moved to Boston from Portland.\""},{"label":"Subjects (AAT)","value":["Card tables"]},{"label":"Subjects","value":["Card tables"]},{"label":"Bibliography","value":"Article: Richard H.
