The upper case has an elaborate cornice with dentil and other molding. The front vertical edges of the bookcase have fluted pilasters. The case has paneled, recessed doors with brass keyhole surrounds. The inner edges of the doors' framed elements are serpentine. The case interior is not visible in photographs.  The lower case has a fall lid that opens up into a flat surface on which to write. The desk interior has a central prospect door with inset, blocked shell carving. The left and right sides of the desk interior are each fitted with a stack of three narrow drawers carved with the same shell and blocking as the prospect door. Between these drawers and the prospect door are three pigeonholes with serpentine dividers over wide, blocked drawers. The pigeonholes have serpentine valances with semi-circular, concave blocking; the valances may be drawer fronts. Ogee molding on the desk surface abuts the desk's interior fittings and follows their profiles. Below the desk surface, the case is blockfront. The case has four graduated drawers. The uppermost drawer is flanked by lopers, each of which has a single knob. The drawers each have a shaped escutcheon and two bail pulls with back plates of the same design as the escutcheons.
