The lid lifts upward to reveal a well with nine pigeonholes over three drawers. The writing surface slides out from the front of the case. Above the writing surface is the keyhole with surround for the lid, flanked by two bail pulls on escutcheons. Below the writing surface, the case is blocked in three distinct sections which terminate in sharp corners at the top; the three graduated drawers have bail pulls. The top drawer has a keyhole with surround; the bottom two drawers have solid escutcheons corresponding to the keyhole surround on the top drawer. The sides of the case have bail carrying handles on escutcheons. All the escutcheons match; the escutcheons, pulls, and handles are original. Cock-bead molding surrounds the openings of the drawers; cove-and-quarter-round molding tops the narrow skirt with a scrolled pendant.
