The tilt-top has been modified so that it now functions as a fixed-top candlestand. The edges of the solid single-board top are molded with a quarter-round profile and rounded corners. The top has two wedge-shaped cleats attached to the underside with screws. Between the cleats is a pedestal block that likely has an integral pintle to allow the table top to rotate into an upright position. Two later wooden braces have been nailed to the bottom of the cleats, covering the edges of the pedestal block and preventing the top from tilting on the hinge. A round brass latch next to the pedestal block originally held the top in the horizontal position. The turned pedestal support has an urn shape near the base and tapers towards the top with a ring turning below the pedestal block. Three cabriole legs are attached to the cylindrical base with an iron spider which likely covers sliding dovetails. There are several small semi-circular notches carved along the bottom edge of the legs and pedestal base, just below where they meet. The legs terminate in carved snake feet and all three legs have significant repairs. One foot appears to be replaced and has been attached to the leg with a through tenon. One leg has a repair to the middle of the shaft with a screw and a through tenon on the back surface. The third leg has a break above the foot that has been repaired with a through tenon.
