The bentwood back of the chair is tenoned through the seat and has moldings along its front surface. The back of the seat has seven spindles that are tenoned through the top of the crest rail. The saddle-shaped seat is composed of one board. Scrub plane marks are visible on the underside of the seat. A shallow cove outlines the back section of the seat immediately in front of the spindles. The chair has four baluster-turned legs that are tenoned and wedged through the seat. Turned stretchers are assembled in an H shape. Side stretchers are swollen at the center. The medial stretcher has turned discs flanking a swollen center. The chair has a heavy, dark finish.
