The circular head has a hinged glass door and a bezel fixed with a locking mechanism. The dial has Roman numerals and diamond and pointed hands to designate hours and minutes. [William Grant / BOSTON] is inscribed on the dial.  The throat has a trapezoidal reverse-painted glass panel framed with gilded rope molding. The molding is connected to small wooden blocks at the corners of the throat. The panel is painted with a classical design. Brass sidearms flank the throat.  The pendulum box has a rectangular reverse-painted glass panel framed with gilded rope molding. The molding is connected to small wooden blocks at the corners. The panel is painted with a white outer border, a decorative inner border, and a scene of a body of water, trees, a woman with a basket on her head, a man holding a fishing rod, and a man in the water, holding onto a tree.
