Atop the bookcase is a pediment featuring at center an inlaid oval within an inlaid tablet with a ball-and-eagle finial above. From the center, the pediment slopes to the outer corners, mounted to which are urn-and-spire finials. The bottom trim of the pediment is molded. Checkered-banding lines the top of the doors, which are glass with panes arranged in diamond shapes. Inside are three shelves, and both doors have a keyhole.    Around the top of the tambour case is checkered molding that does not match the banding above. The tambour doors are flanked by light wood inlaid tablets. The doors have locks, keyholes, and knobs.    The lower section has a hinged writing surface that opens to rest on lopers. Within the lopers is a drawer framed in dark wood inlay with a lightwood center, which has two bail pulls with oval back plates and a central escutcheon. The bottom two drawers have matching inlay, bail pulls, back plates, and escutcheons. On either side of the drawers are inlaid panels.
