The table has been modified so that it no longer expands. The leaves are missing. The table top is constructed of two single-board demi-lune halves. The outer edges of both boards have integral half-round molding and overhang the table frame around the circumference. Both boards are attached to conforming demi-lune skirts with screws in pockets. The skirt frames are each constructed with four layers of brickwork laminated mahogany strips with half-round molding attached to the bottom layer with screws.  Below the table top is an extensive structure to enable the table to expand lengthwise to accept leaves. Two lengthwise boards are mounted perpendicular to the axis of extension, just above the leg structure. Two narrow, vertically-oriented boards are notched at the ends to create L-shaped joints with the cross-table beams. These joints are secured with screws applied from the underside of the cross-table beams up into the lengthwise table beams. Both the cross-table beams and the lengthwise beams are fixed.  On the underside of both demi-lune table tops, a beam parallel to the lengthwise beams is screwed to the table top and flush with, though not attached to, the top surface of the cross-table beam. A small support board is screwed to the interior vertical surface of this beam near the top of the skirt. A round mortise through both of these boards is parallel to the cross-table beam. Also screwed to the underside of both demi-lune table tops is a large block which serves as an extension stop block. A small support board is screwed to the interior vertical surface of this block, parallel to the lengthwise table beams. A round mortise through both of these boards is parallel to the cross-table beam. A block with round tenons is set into the round mortises, creating a pintle hinge. A metal latch is mounted at one end of the pintle block preventing it from rotating. The top of a turned leg is mounted to each pintle block, slightly left of center, so when the table is closed two interior turned legs rest next to each other, above and supported by the cross-table beams and facing in opposite directions. On either side of the turned legs are fixed boards that reinforce the square created by the cross-table beams and the lengthwise table beams. Between these fixed boards and the lengthwise table beams are a series of parallel, interlocking boards that slide out in series to provide lengthwise support to the extended table and to hold extension leaves. Metal brackets screwed to the underside of the table tops and the lengthwise beams now prevent the table from opening.  The table's upper structure is supported by four fixed legs and a thick stretcher platform above four scrolled feet. The C-scroll legs have flat sides and outward-facing scrolls at the base, with circular, turned decorations applied to the scrolls. The stretcher platform is diamond-shaped with concave sides and squared-off points and is veneered on the top and sides. The four feet are screwed to the bottom of the stretcher platform and are carved with scrolls and foliate motifs.
