(46.7 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Hinged-top basin stand with a rectangular, overhanging lid with molded edge that is hinged at the rear and surmounts a plain enclosed carcass. The carcass contains a full-width lead-lined well. The well sits atop a cupboard with a recessed front flanked by a pair of half-round Doric supporting columns. There are two well drawers and a pair of doors. The cupboard is divided with a single shelf on the left side. The case sits atop bun feet.    The top is made from two butt joined boards. The case sides are single boards with squared front edges. The case back is composed of two horizontal boards. The lower back board is chamfered on the sides and set into rabbets in the case sides and the bottom of the well. The well bottom is set into a rabbet at the sides. The upper case back is attached to the sides with a spline joint visible under the case top. The well front is set into a rabbet at the sides; veneer covers the joint at the front.    The cabinet doors are built with frame and panel construction. The frames are joined with mortise and tenon joints. The left cabinet door is secured with a latch that fits into a mortise in the upper part of the base. The right cabinet door is secured with a turned thumb latch attached to the pull. Modern mending plates have been affixed to the interior of both doors.    The case bottom is attached with glue blocks at the front left and right corners.    The drawer fronts are veneered. The drawer sides and backs are attached with dovetail joints. The drawer bottoms are single boards with the grain running side to side. The bottoms are let into grooves in the front and sides, and reinforced with glue blocks. The drawers rest on the case bottom.
