The back of the sofa is rounded, with curved shoulders and profile. The rear stiles are continuous with the back legs. The seat is trapezoidal and framed. Hand-cut sliding dovetails and mortise-and-tenon joints are visible on the underside of the sofa, alongside recent restorations to the frame, which has been reinforced with secondary rails and modern L-brackets. The seat is upholstered over the rail with a removable bench cushion. There are four therm front legs, and four stump back legs, all attached to the frame with mortise-and-tenon joints. The forward-facing surfaces of the front legs are decorated with string inlay in a contrasting tone of wood.  Unable to examine back of sofa, or wooden carcass underneath the upholstery.  The upholstery has been replaced. The blue outer covering is attached to older, green upholstery by snaps and can be removed. The older upholstery is also not original. The center front legs are damaged, possibly chewed or scratched by a household pet. Possible traces of green and yellow paint are visible in scuffs and splatters on inside surfaces of legs.
