The curved crest rail continues into curved shoulders and gently downward sloping arms with S-curved front profiles. The sofa frame is completely covered by the over-the-rail upholstery and there is padding on the front surfaces. A lifting panel has been cut in the upholstery on the back so that the interior of the frame can be accessed. The seat frame is composed of four rails which are mortise and tenoned into four corner legs. There are also two interior legs on the front and rear which are mortise and tenoned up into the seat rails. The four therm-shaped front legs have cove molding along the right and left edges of the front surface and ogee shaped molding in the center. The four sabre-shaped rear legs are rectangular with flat-sawn faces. The legs are all supported by brass castors attached to the bottom surface with screws. There are three curved mahogany braces running between the front and rear seat rails under the sofa and they attach to the rails with sliding dovetails.
