The bentwood curved outline is tenoned through the seat, and ringed with a decorative incised line that follows the curve of the wood. There are eight spindles, which are tenoned through the top of the bentwood. The spindles are turned and ornamented with double incised lines.  The seat is saddle shaped, and carved from one board. Incised lines outline the back curve of the seat, framing and following the row of spindles. The left front edge of the seat is chipped, and the right front edge has been rejoined with glue. There are four turned legs, joined with an H-stretcher. Incised lines decorate the joints where the H-stretcher is tenoned into the legs. All legs and stretchers have suffered extensive insect damage, which has left behind visible exit pores. The right stretcher is coming out of the right front leg, and the right front and rear legs are shorter than the left (rear by 0.5 in., front by 1.5 in.).  There is evidence of multiple layers of varnish, applied unevenly over time. The spindles, bentwood outline, seat, and right and center stretchers are made from a ring porous hardwood with rays, identified as oak.
