The chair has a birdcage back with seven spindles which are tenoned through the top and seat. The back has a second horizontal spindle with three small equally spaced spindles at the top. The spindles are bamboo-turned. The arms are not continuous with the back and are straight and mounted at an angle. The arm supports are tenoned through the seat and there is only one spindle, with the back stiles being used as the back of the arm support. The saddle seat is made from one board. There is a cove molding with an inscribed line around the back of the seat and two lines around the edge. The four legs have a low stretcher between them from front to back on each side and a high stretcher from side to side at the front and back. They are all done with a bamboo turning.
