(91.1 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Federal, mahogany card table. The top of the table has half-serpentine ends, ovolo corners, and serpentine sides. The top is composed of one fixed board and one hinged board attached to the fixed board with original knife-hinges. The fixed portion of the table top is secured to the frame with glue blocks and screws fitted into screw pockets. There is evidence of mill sawing on the underside of the table top. The front and side edges of the top are reeded. The rectangular frame is attached to the legs with mortise and tenon construction. The back left corner of the frame is dovetailed. There is a large screw hole on the underside of the front rail. The front and sides of the table frame are veneered on the exterior and have decorative bead molding along the bottom edges. The table is supported by four turned, reeded, and tapered legs. Each leg has a pronounced ring turning at the lower section of the leg. The two front legs are screwed to the frame and are continuous with the columns on the front of the table, which extend to the table top. The two back legs, one of which is a swing leg, are secured into place with mortise and tenon construction. The swing leg board moves on a knuckle joint.
