The top of the case supports a hinged lid that opens to form a writing surface. The outer surface of the lid has a shaped escutcheon. The desk interior has a central prospect unit consisting of a fan-carved prospect door over two drawers. The drawer fronts are blockfront, continuing the profile of the fan carving. Two document drawers with applied half-turnings flank the prospect unit. The left and right sides of the desk interior are each fitted four pigeonholes surmounting a full-width drawer over two side-by-side drawers. The drawer units are each shaped in a broken cyma curve.  Beneath the desk surface are four graduated, full-width drawers with arch-blocked fronts: two convex sections flanking a concave center section. Lopers to support the slant-front lid flank the uppermost drawer. Each drawer front has a central shaped escutcheon and two bail pulls with shaped back plates that match the escutcheons. Bead molding on the drawer blades outlines the drawer openings. The complex molding along the side and front lower edges of the case follows the profile of the blocking. A center drop extends below the case.
