White pine is used as a secondary wood for interior chair rails, corner blocks, and seat frame. The chair back is square and curved, culminating in a wide yoke-back crest rail faced with crotch grain mahogany veneer. The curved crest rail has rounded ears and scroll saw-cut ogee notches at the lower edge. The crest rail is topped with an applied scroll-shaped strip. The crest rail is screwed to two solid mahogany stiles, which are continuous with the nearly square rear legs. A cyma curved projection extends out from the center of each stile with two incised lines at the center splitting it into two indented segments. The central urn-shaped splat is faced with crotch grain mahogany veneer and set into the crest and seat rails. It is secured at the bottom rail with a screw. The trapezoidal seat is framed and secured with mortis and tenon joints and screwed corner blocks that appear to be original. The side seat rails have rounded tops, a shape continuous with the tops of the front legs. The front and back seat rails are composed of white pine and mahogany boards, the mahogany board forming the chair exterior. On the back chair rail, the pine and mahogany boards are of nearly equal width and screwed together. The front chair rail is bowed with a tall, thin, and convex piece of veneered mahogany covering the exterior. The interior of the front seat rail has highly visible regular saw marks. The mahogany strip and veneer are chipped right of the center. The front rail has a screw at the center with an unclear purpose, perhaps originally intended for attaching the slip seat to the chair. Although the top of the seat frame could not be examined, the frame may not be original to the chair. The padding has been replaced and covered with a floral embroidered fabric, and the seat is covered with blue velvet. Nail holes are visible on the frame. All four legs are mortise and tenoned to the seat rails.
