The back of the chair is rectangular with a curved profile. The rectangular tablet at the top of the back has rounded edges. The tablet and a horizontal slat are decorated with veneer panels in raised relief. A section of the veneer on the tablet has been replaced. The rear stiles are tenoned into the tablet, curve dramatically above the seat and are continuous with the back legs. The chair has a trapezoidal slip seat with replaced upholstery. Repairs have been made to the back portion of the left seat rail. The back corner of the right seat rail has also been repaired with newer wood. Additional repairs have been made on the front and left side seat rails. The seat frame has four corner blocks, which appear to be replaced; circular saw marks are visible. The corner blocks are beveled so as not to show past the legs. There are screw holes on the undersides of the front and back seat rails, possibly indicating that the seat was once screwed in place. The seat is supported by four sabre legs, which are attached to the seat rail with mortise and tenon joints.
