Crowning the drum head is a gilded wood acorn finial mounted to a plinth. The circular head has a hinged glass door and a bezel fixed with a locking mechanisms. The dial has Roman numerals and hands with arrow tips and a winding hole. [G.W. Dyar / BOSTON] is inscribed on the dial.  The throat has a trapezoidal reverse-painted glass panel set in a frame with rope molding along the edges. The molding is connected to small wooden blocks set at the front corners of the throat. The panel is painted with a light colored outer border, a grain-painted inner border, and central foliate design. Brass sidearms flank the throat.  The pendulum box has a rectangular reverse-painted glass panel set in a frame with rope molding along the edges. The molding is connected to small wooden blocks set at the front corners of the pendulum box door.
