The molded broken-scroll pediment terminates in carved pinwheels. Urn-and-flame finials sit on fluted block plinths at the front corners and on a plinth continuous with the pediment at the center. Just under the pediment is a blind fret-carved frieze with moldings above and below the carving. Two fluted block half columns flank cabinet doors with shaped inset panels of figured wood and shaped escutcheons. The bottom of the upper case has two pull-out candleslides and molding around the base. The lower case has a slant-front lid that folds down to reveal the writing area. At the outside of the writing area are pairs of drawers with inset rectangular panels with a carved half fan at the top, next to sets of three pigeonholes over a drawer with a shaped front, flanking document drawers with half-turned columnar fronts, and a central cabinet door with an inset rectangular panel above which is a carved half fan. Underneath all this is a row of three drawers. The outside of the case is serpentine-fronted with four graduated drawers with pierced escutcheons and bail pulls. The case has cock-bead molding around the drawer openings and ogee molding around the base. The feet are claw-and-ball with shaped knee brackets.
