(44.1 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Seventeenth-Century-style joined side chair made of red maple and red oak with seat and back upholstered with turkey work, one of a pair.  The rectangular tablet back is outlined with upholstery tacks. The edges of the rectangular seat are also outlined in upholstery tacks. The rear stiles and front legs are ball-and-block turned. The front legs terminate in ball feet. There are two rectangular stretchers on each side and one rectangular rear stretcher. There is a ball-turned stretcher between the front legs. Between the rear and front legs are rectangular stretchers. Between the front legs is a ball-turned stretcher.  According to the Winterthur object record, as of 1977, the turkey work was removed, vacuumed on both sides and replaced. Crunchy-sounding stuffing may be the original marsh grass stuffing.
