Two reel- and urn-turned posts support the pivoting looking glass. The posts are mounted to the top of the dressing case at a slight backward angle. Urn and flattened ball finials surmount each post. Pins applied through the outer edges of the posts are inserted into the center of the side elements of the looking glass frame, forming the hinges on which the looking glass pivots. The four front elements of the looking glass frame meet at mitered corners. The frame is outlined in light wood stringing.  The case on which the looking glass is mounted has five drawers: a tall center drawer slightly recessed from the top and bottom of the case flanked on either side by a short drawer over a tall drawer. A figured mahogany gallery across the center back of the case is set at the same height as the flanking drawers. The center drawer has a bowed front; the other drawer fronts are straight. All of the drawer fronts are veneered with figured mahogany. The drawer openings are outlined with banding and light wood string inlay. The center drawer has an elaborate central escutcheon with keyhole and two small brass knobs. The other four drawers each have a single knob. Beneath the center drawer is a serpentine apron with two S-curves flanking a central arch. The bottom of the case is flush with the bottom of the center apron.
