The upper bookcase has three glazed doors and four full columns across the case front, with four adjustable shelves behind each door on the interior. The case is topped with a mahogany veneered pediment consisting of thick cove molding above a strip of Grecian molding, all below a stepped, straight vertical gallery. The pediment attaches to the case with round mortise and tenons into the tops of the four columns and is designed to be removable but is now screwed in place. The columns have carved Corinthian capitals and smooth shafts covered in mahogany veneer. The case sides are each constructed with one solid mahogany board. The three doors are each framed with four veneered mahogany stiles with a horizontal stile across the center, separating the upper and lower panes of glass. The doors are hinged to the case with three butt hinges along the right edges and they each have a lock in the center of the left side. The escutcheons are lacking on the exterior of all three doors.  The bookcase sits on top of a middle case with a central fall-front desk and two exterior stacked drawers on either side. The desk area is housed inside the center of the case and the cantilevered writing surface is designed to extend out in front of the case when in use. A hinged fall-front hides the desk area when it is inside the case, but the hinges are broken and the front is now detached from the desk. The writing surface also no longer fully extends out of the case. The desk interior consists of three stacked drawers on either side of a center area with one wide top drawer above five pigeon holes and a shallow open document hole. The writing surface across the front is covered in original green baize. The drawers are constructed entirely of mahogany and the front and rear corners are joined with dovetails. The drawer bottoms are let into a groove in the front and sides and reinforced underneath with three glue blocks along each side. The drawer fronts have a single wooden knob pull, and two of the drawers have replaced brass knobs. The bottom right drawer is fitted with five interior compartments with a removable pen tray in the largest compartment.  The four exterior drawers in the middle case have solid mahogany fronts and sides and poplar bottoms. The front and rear corners of each drawer are joined with dovetails and the bottom is let into a groove in the front and sides. The bottom is reinforced on the underside with three glue blocks across the front edge and one on each side. The drawer fronts each have two round turned mahogany knobs and a central lock with a brass keyhole surround. Inside the case, the top drawers rest on runners attached to the sides with glue and the bottom drawers rest on the case bottom. The pine case top and bottom have oddly shaped cut-outs above and below the drawers on both the right and left side. It is unclear what the purpose of these cutouts might have been. There is thick veneered bevel molding across the case front above the stacked drawers, but not above the central desk section.  The bookcase and desk sit on top of a separate lower case with four doors and three interior cupboards. The two central doors are in a recessed kneehole section below the desk and open from the center to reveal an interior with one fixed shelf across the middle. The side doors are hinged along their outer edges and also have one fixed shelf across the middle of the cupboard interior. The side doors have locks with keyholes located in the center of the curved sides of the kneehole area, not on the doors themselves. Each door is constructed with a frame of four mahogany boards around a recessed center panel with vertical branched mahogany veneer. The lower case sides are also panel framed with four mahogany boards around a recessed center panel. The case bottom is constructed with three pine boards, each dovetailed to the case sides and/or the vertical dividers between the three cupboards. The lower case has a conforming mahogany veneered skirt around the front and sides and the veneer is heavily cracked throughout. A later pine trim has been nailed to the bottom edge of the skirt and stained to match the color of the mahogany.  The bottom pane of glass in the right bookcase door has several cracks and the top pane has a textured surface that makes it appear frosted. There is water damage and sun bleaching to the veneer on the left side of the kneehole section on the lower case.
