(61 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Oval extension table made from two matching demi-lune extension tables with pedestal bases. A plain, square edge treatment is designed to allow the table tops to butt smoothly together and to accept extension leaves. Special hardware is mounted to the underside of the top to support and lock in the table leaves. The table tops can be locked in an upright position with thumbscrews for storage and locked in the horizontal position with lyre-shaped spring latches.  Cleats are screwed to the undersides of the tops. The cleats are attached to a hinge on the pedestal block. The pedestal blocks are made up of two pieces of mahogany laminated horizontally. The ring-turned pedestals are supported on sabre legs with reed molding that are attached with sliding dovetails and secured with an iron spider attached with flat-head screws. The legs terminate in brass caps and castors.  The table tops are kept flush with a short length of mahogany attached to the underside of each top. Each length is attached with a single flat-head screw that allows each to rotate. Sliding brass latches lock the table tops together or to the leaves if inserted.
