The case top consists of one board with overhanging edges on front and sides, attached to the case with screws. The front and side edges of the case top are shaped with integral quarter-round molding. Each case side consists of two boards. The case back consists of four vertical boards set into a grooved frame. The case bottom appears to be made of a single board. Below full-height, engaged half-columns flank the case front. The smooth columns have three double bands at the tops. The desk has four castors.  The upper portion of the case front has a fall-front door veneered on the exterior surface. The inner writing surface is covered in a red textile. The interior of the desk has two full-width shelves that divide the space into thirds. A unit of four pigeonholes is set between the two shelves. Below the lower shelf, horizontal and vertical dividers support two rows of side-by-side drawers. The fronts of the interior drawers are veneered in burled mahogany. The drawer sides are dovetailed to the fronts and backs. The drawer bottoms are nailed on the undersides. Each drawer has two wooden knobs. One drawer has a lock; another has interior dividers.  The lower portion of the case front has two doors that open to reveal a single, full-width, fixed shelf. The fronts of the doors are veneered.
