Surmounting the upper case is a flat pediment with fretwork moldings above a decorated frieze. Within the upper case are two shelves, topped and flanked by pigeonholes. Behind the unfolding writing surface in the lower desk are pigeonholes with ogee and shell-carved valances, knobbed drawers, two of them with carved shells, and a central prospect door with a knob and flanked by pilasters. Behind the central prospect door, visible through the ogee window, are knobbed drawers, the top one shell-carved. Below the unfolding lid are four graduated drawers, the top set between knobbed lopers that support the hinged surface. The drawers are molded around the edges, fixed with batwing escutcheons with bail pulls and keyholes, and flanked by fluted pilasters. The base is molded. The legs are cabriole on claw-and-ball feet."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"1/30/2019"},{"label":"Materials","value":"Unidentified wood; Brass"},{"label":"Style","value":["Chippendale"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date range based on approximate date of 1770 provided by DAPC staff (1969)."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1760 - D:00 M:00 Y:1780"},{"label":"Basis of Origin","value":"Boston or Newburyport.
