From the side of the clock protrudes a semi-circle that is part of the alarm mechanism. The body of the clock is one, rectangular component with a hinged door that opens to reveal the inner workings. Attached to the left side is the hook component of a hook-and-eye latch that serves to lock the door. A circular window at the top of the door reveals the clock face with a winding hole. Roman numerals denote time via the clock face.
