At the school, boys and girls studied together, an uncommon practice for the period. Among their lessons was the sloyd woodworking method for children, which was meant to provide a holistic education for body and mind. Rectangular back with arched crest rail and squared shoulders. The rear stiles are continuous with the back legs and are composed of one piece of wood. Between the stiles is a carved oval filled with caning surrounded by floral scrollwork with simple flowers in a circle at one end of the scroll at the side center of the oval. The crest rail has a similar motif but with a bouquet at center between the two scrolls on top that make up the crest rail. The stiles are topped with an acorn shape above the crest rail. Below is a rectangular section that starts the baluster turned with a star-shaped flower carving. The rest of the back stiles do not have additional carving. They are baluster turned until the feet.  The front legs are baluster turned starting from below the arms, which have a slight ogee curved with a groove carved on each side that ends in a scroll, and then have a straight carved bottom with a scroll carved at each side with a textured front right above where the leg becomes straight. All four feet are scroll feet, but the back feet are below a baluster turned section and so are coming out of a square section, while the front feet are carved from a section with a flat back, making them less pronounced.  The stretchers are H stretchers. The side stretchers are baluster turned with vase shaped ends on the side stretchers. The center stretcher has the same vase shaped ends, but an oblong shape in the center with two rings on either side, a back stretcher right below the seat is the same design. At the front of the chair below the seat is a flat stretcher with the same floral scrolls and central bouquet as on the crest rail.  The seat of the chair is trapezoidal with a framed cane seat. The caning frame is screwed into the seat frame. The seat rails are mortise and tenoned into the legs. There is floral carving with a central flower and leaves on the four outer edges of the seat rails. The sides are unidirectional and point towards the front, while the front and back rails point in opposite directions on either side of the central flower.
