The molded arched pediment has projecting, flared corners and an overall cove profile. Turned, engaged columns support all four corners of the hood. A glazed door with an astragal top opens to a composite brass dial with an applied chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute numerals designated by hour and minute hands, applied cast ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and a strike/silent mechanism with an engraved compass motif in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring there is an applied seconds dial, a calendar aperture, and a name plate engraved: [Sam'l Bagnall, Boston].  Cyma-curved molding separates the hood from the waist. The waist is fixed with a rectangular door with molded edges and a shaped escutcheon and keyhole on the left-hand side.  Along the top of the base section is cavetto molding. The bottom of the base section has applied decorative molding.
