Crowning the drum head is a compressed ball-and-spire finial mounted to a plinth. The circular head has a hinged glass door and a brass bezel which opens by a latch. The dial has Roman numerals and hands with arrow tips and a winding hole. Inscribed on the dial: [Warranted by / WILLIAM CUMMENS].    The throat has a trapezoidal reverse-painted glass panel set in a veneered frame. The panel is painted with classical motifs against a light background. Brass sidearms flank the throat. The pendulum box has a rectangular reverse-painted glass panel set in a veneered frame. The panel is painted with a classical female figure surrounded by an ovoid border made of acanthus leaves.
