Mabel M. Swan, in "Boston's Carvers and Joiners, Part II. Post-Revolutionary," from Antiques (April 1948), pg. 282, was among the first to publish the link between the Bright bill of sale to this chair and the 29 others in the set, which is now dispersed. From the crest, arms extend and curve to terminate in dramatic volutes which continue to the seat rail in an s-curve. Leather upholstery is fixed to the back. The seat is d-shaped and upholstered in leather. Attached to the seat rail are two front legs with ring-and-spool turnings and two s-curved back legs.
