The bottom of the cradle is composed of wooden slats and constructed with nails. The rectangular headboard is panel-framed with a short panel over a tall panel and reinforced with pegs. The tall panel is the height of the cradle sides and footboard. The cradle sides are each composed of two side-by-side framed panels. Two small, short framed panels are mounted over the top edges of the cradle sides adjacent to the headboard, creating a continuous structure resembling an open hood. The footboard is composed of a single framed panel. Each stile, or vertical frame element in the corners of the cradle, is surmounted with a turned finial. At the head, the finials are compressed balls. At the foot, the finials are compressed balls over tapering spindles. The finials on the right side of the cradle are damaged. Bends are mounted beneath the cradle, allowing it to pivot from side to side. The bends are mounted in grooves cut in the undersides of the corner stiles and reinforced with pegs.
