Crowning the drum head is a wooden tiered finial mounted to a plinth. The circular head has a hinged glass door and a brass bezel which opens by a latch. The dial has Roman numerals, hands with arrow tips, and a winding hole. Inscribed on the dial: [Warranted by Wm Cummens.].    The throat has a trapezoidal reverse-painted glass panel set in a frame with half-round molding along the edges. The panel is painted with sawtooth and foliate designs above [PATENT] set in a ribbon against a light background. Brass sidearms flank the throat.    The pendulum box has a rectangular reverse-painted glass panel set in a frame with half-round molding around the edges.
