The rectangular crest is framed in stringing and connected to the plank by twenty-three spindles within two bamboo-turned stiles. Connected to the stiles are S-curved arms with tapered and swelled arm supports, as well as three additional spindles. The plank is rectangular, rounded at front, and grooved around the spindle base. The settee has ten bamboo turned legs with slat style stretchers. Reinforcing rods have been added between the arm supports and seat, and through the front legs above the front stretcher, which is screwed into the legs. The side stretchers are slat and stick style, with the slat closer to the seat and the stick just above the feet.  The bottom of the seat is branded: [J.C.
