The top of the case is trimmed in cross banding below cyma-recta decorative molding. The upper case has two narrow drawers above three full-width drawers. Double-layered, stepped molding lines the bottom of the upper case and is inlaid or gilded in a scrolled design. Each drawer has two brass bail pulls and an escutcheon. The drawer second to the top as well as the top two drawers have decorative keyholes set in the bail pulls.    The bottom case has three drawers; two are square and flank a central rectangular drawer. Each drawer has one bail pull. The apron is arcaded with the center arch situated slightly higher up the apron than the outside arches. The four baluster legs have ball and ring turning and are cone-shaped just above the feet. The legs terminate in ball feet. The stretchers were placed incorrectly, just below the apron rather than at the base.    The decoration of the drawer fronts is original. Nineteenth-century decoration was added to the sides, cornice, and legs."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"7/17/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Inscribed on top of base: [Randl]."},{"label":"Materials","value":"Unidentified wood; Paint; Brass; Gilding"},{"label":"Style","value":["Queen Anne","William and Mary"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date range based on known working dates of maker."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1715 - D:00 M:00 Y:1735"},{"label":"Basis of Origin","value":"Randall was an active japanner, cabinetmaker, and retailer active in Boston from about 1715-about 1733."},{"label":"Place of Origin","value":"Boston, Massachusetts"},{"label":"Basis of Maker Attribution","value":"Signed on top of lower case."},{"label":"Maker","value":["Randle, William, japanner, about 1697-1770, active in Boston about 1715-about 1733"]},{"label":"Other Name","value":"Tallboy; Highboy; Case of drawers"},{"label":"Object Type","value":["Chest of drawers"]},{"label":"Object Use","value":"Case furniture"},{"label":"Category","value":"Furniture"},{"label":"Title","value":"High chest of drawers"},{"label":"Date Modified","value":"7/17/2018"}],"description":"High chest of drawers","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/c14bb7f6-55b5-47f6-b5f0-c7ffda32b06d/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"dapc_1974-5881-001_overall","height":1500,"width":1026,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/29d41664-d77a-47d3-a8de-35e08ac8e9a0/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/29d41664-d77a-47d3-a8de-35e08ac8e9a0","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1500,"width":1026},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/c14bb7f6-55b5-47f6-b5f0-c7ffda32b06d/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/29d41664-d77a-47d3-a8de-35e08ac8e9a0/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}},{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/c14bb7f6-55b5-47f6-b5f0-c7ffda32b06d/canvas/_2","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"dapc_1974-5881-002_front","height":1500,"width":1025,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/6e6b58c7-6e1a-495f-9cdd-acff30aa4822/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/6e6b58c7-6e1a-495f-9cdd-acff30aa4822","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"},"height":1500,"width":1025},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/c14bb7f6-55b5-47f6-b5f0-c7ffda32b06d/canvas/_2","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/6e6b58c7-6e1a-495f-9cdd-acff30aa4822/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/29d41664-d77a-47d3-a8de-35e08ac8e9a0/full/300,300/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/logo"}
