The chair has a birdcage back with seven spindles. The spindles are tenoned through the rail above them and through the seat. The back has a second horizontal spindle with three small equally spaced spindles at the top. The spindles are bamboo-turned. The saddle seat is made from one board with three inscribed lines around the front of the seat and three inscribed lines behind the spindles. The underside of the seat has a red wash. The four legs are tenoned through the seat and have a low stretcher between them from front to back on each side and a high stretcher from side to side at the front and back. They are all done with a bamboo turning.
