(18.4 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Queen Anne-style eight-day movement tall case clock made of pine.  Atop the hood is a flat and molded pediment. A molded arch is just above the glazed door, which has a an astragal top. On the sides of the hood are arched sidelights. Thin and smooth quarter columns are at the back corners of the hood and at the front are smooth, turned three-quarter columns on square plinths. The door is mortise and tenoned and pegged through the front columns. Inside the glass door is a composite brass dial with an applied chapter ring with Roman numerals indicating hours and Arabic numerals indicating minutes, applied cast ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and in the lunette, an applied name boss engraved: [Gawen Brown / Boston]. Inside the chapter ring there is a seconds dial with an engraved compass motif and a calendar aperture and winding holes. A pierced and scrolled hour hand keeps time along with the thin minute hand. Below the hood is cavetto molding.  The waist has chamfered edges. The hinged door has an astragal top and a shaped escutcheon on the left. The door is one pine board and overlaps the case on all edges. The waist is two pine horizontal pieces mortise-and-tenoned through posts: one above and one below the door. Posts of pine with rounded corners extended over the sides. The upper right edge of left post has an extra pine strip added (looks old, noted DAPC cataloger DDW - 1979).  The top of the base is cavetto and ovolo-molded and otherwise plain with cavetto molding around the bottom. The front of the base is made of one pine board with horizontal grain butter over and nailed or pegged to the sides.
