The top frame is in an open box shape. The head posts are rectangular and tapered, from the terminals, which are block, to the top. The headboard is curved and tenoned to the head posts. The foot posts are intricately carved and turned. The tops are smooth and cylindrical, followed by reel and spool turnings, then reeded and swollen shafts with carved leaves. Spool turning separates the shaft from a shorter section on the post carved with a classical motif and additional spool turning. Atop the corner plinths are fluted, cylindrical segments. The rails of the bed frame are joined by corner plinths at the front. The front and sides of the corner plinths have veneered tablets and engraved bolt hole covers. The legs on the foot posts have ring and spool turnings and gadrooned shafts.
