The back of the chair is curved for comfort with a horizontally curved tablet crest rail. The ends of the tablet crest rail feature two inward facing scrolls with five-pointed leafage facing towards the center. In the center of the tablet is a rectangle of veneer with concave sides. Below the crest rail, and attached to the crest rail where it meets the stiles, is a thick horizontal slat carved on the front surface with swagged drapery and foliage. The drapery terminates in three scrolled edges on each side. The molded rear stiles are joined to the seat rail. This joint is the meeting point of the rear stiles, seat frame, and legs. The trapezoidal slip seat rests on corner blocks that are attached with glue and screws. Molding on the rear stiles continues along the top edges of the side seat rails. The slip seat has replaced upholstery and upholstery foundations. The newer upholstery appears to be vinyl. The frame of the slip seat is not visible. The seat side rails and front legs are carved with acanthus leaves where they meet in the front corners. The chair has four sabre legs. The front legs have decorative molding on the front surfaces. Decorative knee blocks flank the rear sabre legs on the back side of the chair. There is a break at the front left corner of the chair where the seat rail and leg meet in the middle of the acanthus leaf carving.
