Crowning the drum head is a brass urn-and-spire finial mounted to a trapezoidal plinth. The circular head has a hinged glass door and a brass bezel which opens by a latch. The dial has Roman numerals and hands with arrow tips and a winding hole. Inscribed on the dial is: [Warranted by / William Cummens].    The throat has a trapezoidal reverse-painted glass panel set within a veneered frame. The panel is painted with foliate designs and classical motifs against a white background. An s-curved regalia in acanthus leaves bears the inscription: [PATENT]. Below is a female figure. Brass sidearms flank the throat.    The pendulum box has a rectangular reverse-painted glass panel set within a veneered wood frame.
