A board hinged to the unfolding top opens to give access to the keyboard of 84 keys and the keywell, which at center is signed: [W.P. Emerson / Boston]. The top opens fully to reveal the hammers and strings. The bottom rail is molded. The knees of the four cabriole legs are carved with foliate decoration. The legs and feet resemble a bird's claw gripping a twig. The feet stand on flattened pad feet.
